The Sun Valley Film Festival is showing the 2024 Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Winner “In the Summers” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at The Argyros in Ketchum.
The 98-minute film follows two siblings as they deal with their loving but volatile father during summer visits to his home in Las Cruces, N.M. It stars Rene Perez Joglar, a Puerto Rican rapper, as the father. Sasha Calle and Lio Mehiel are among those who play the sisters.
The story is told in snapshots spanning two decades as it looks at the relationship between parent and child.
In addition to the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Dramatic film, the film won the Directing Award for U.S. Dramatic film for Alessandra Lacorazza.
