The event, which celebrates the end of summer and the beginning of school, will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. It will have activities for all ages:
Explore the Summer Games/Local Heroes exhibit in The Library foyer featuring a look at Sun Valley’s Summer Olympians and their memorabilia, including Muffy Davis’ gold medals and the road bike ridden by Greg Randolph at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Then, answer a list of trivia questions to win prizes, including gift certificates to the Gold Mine Thrift store. The first 50 participants will be given an authentic collector’s pins from the Olympic Games.
Enjoy free cookies, tacos, pizza, and ice cream from Sun Valley Company, Taqueria al Pastor, Smoky Mountain Pizza and the new Mountain High Creamery open across from The Community Library on 4th Street.

Try the book-themed Lawn Olympics, create your own medal in the Medal Craft and make a bookmark.
Get free bites from Rocky Mountain Pizza at The Gold Mine, as well as a 10 percent Back-to-School discount on Thrift merchandise with student ID.
Travel through time as you scour The Library, Wood Rivere Museum and Gold Mine Stores for fun facts and special items. Everyone gets a prize and some may win a $100 Gold Mine gift card, a mystery grand prize or other great gifts.
Listen to local authors at the Local Author Showcase. Among them: Dr. Marshall Flam, author of “Wordle Limericks;” Nick Harman, author of “The Randimals” and “We’re all Randimals,” and Shannon Jackson, author of the memoir “Better and Happier Together,” which recounts the many outdoor adventures, including hiking the Continental Divide, that she and her husband Don have taken. Also, Richard Rachlin, author of the legal thriller “Conspiracy of Lies;” Vanessa Root, author of the poetry book “Tonight I’m With the Moon,” and Angela Super, a science fiction author who has written “Erebus Dawning,” “A Star Reborn” and “Queen of the Black.”
