Hailey’s new Silver Lining Trail has hiked and biked its way into the top five most used trails in its first year of being open, according to the Wood River Trail Coalition.
A counter on the 3.5-mile trail detects 62 daily detections. That’s half of the traffic at Greenhorn and a third of the traffic on the Shadyside trail in Adams Gulch.
This is the second year Shadyside has garnered the most detections, and no wonder given the above average temperatures.
If you haven’t tried the Silver Lining Trail, you can access it near the Quigley Bike Park on the north end and in the canyon just to the north of Keefer Park on the south end. It offers beautiful views of fall colors in the Hailey area come fall.
A trail crew continues to work the new Bureau of Land Management trail that extends from Cutters Park in Hailey to the Quigley Canyon Pond. Work has been slowed by the number of rocks the crew is encountering.
Meanwhile, Ketchum District Ranger Zach Poff said the Forest Service is awaiting a permit so it can install the new bridge that connects the new Greenhorn Trail reroute to a new Imperial Trail reroute in Greenhorn. Bridge pieces have been sitting in the parking lot since mid-July.
It’s hoped now that the bridge will be in place by Sept. 15.
