The Argyros turned into New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Wednesday night as the Preservation Hall Jazz Band returned to Ketchum for an unusual three-night gig.
The lively upbeat music of the trumpet, trombone and saxophone set against the rhythm of drums and double bass set the audience’s feet to tappin’ and hands to clappin.’ And the band didn’t get too far into their set before they worked a little Afro-Cuban rhythms into their repertoire, which got some up and dancing and offered a sneak peek at tonight’s Jazz Dance Party.
Casey Mott, artistic director for The Argyros, noted that some have said America has three things to be most proud of: Its Constitution, baseball and jazz.
“And the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has been called the finest jazz band in the land,” he added.
The band will aim to get everyone up and moving with its Brass Dance Party from 8 to 10 p.m. tonight—Saturday, Aug. 24—at The Argyros. Expect jazz’s Afro-Cuban roots to be on full display during the red-hot jazz dance party.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students at https://www.theargyros.org/.
