Organizers of The Shoshone Project are organizing a tour of agencies that the project has been funding.

The tour of Shoshone nonprofits will start at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Lincoln County Youth Center in Richfield.

It will move to Shoshone where participants can see the Hope for the Hungry Community Food Pantry at 1:45 p.m., the Shoshone Public Library at 2:15 p.m., and the Lincoln County Pool at 2:45 p.m. The tour is expected to conclude at 3:15 p.m.

Participants should RSVP to Candice Stark via cstark@thestarks.org. Stark cautions that it takes an hour and 15 minutes to drive to Richfield from Ketchum and 15 minutes to drive from Richfield to Shoshone. The organizations in Shoshone are about two minutes from each other.

The Shoshone Project was started by Candice Stark and Julia Borrayo Draper during the COVID pandemic to help those who live south of the Wood River Valley but who provide much of the workforce for the Sun Valley area. The group started out providing food, clothing and gifts at Christmas, then expanded to help with refurbishing the Lincoln County Youth Center and assisting with utility bills and emergency medical costs.

“Every one of these organizations is doing great work and I think people will be fascinated to hear about their efforts,” said Stark.

The nonprofit group can accept tax-deductible donations. To learn more, visit https://www.shoshoneproject.com/.
