Mental health and its effect on cognition and physical health will be the subject of the next Miracle of the Mind talk at 4:30 p.m. (note the unusual time) Monday, Sept. 9, at Ketchum’s Community Library.
Patrick Abel will discuss the brain-body connection in the talk, which is presented by Anita Dromey, speech-language pathologist at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation in Ketchum.
Abel currently works for Dr. Zach Moriarty at ZXM Psychiatry in Twin Falls.
Growing up in Ogden, Utah, Abel grew up in the outdoors of Utah and Idaho. He worked as a river guide in Stanley for five summers, during which time he fell in love with Idaho. He lives in Hailey with his fiancé and new pup Zuko.
Abel got his start in wilderness therapy. He has extensive experience working with teens and works with adults dealing with bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia, dementia and addictions. He does medication management, CBT/DBT counseling and ketamine-assisted therapy.
