Sun Valley filmmaker Kate Dumke will screen her film “Preconceived” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at The Argyros.
The film is a look at the rise of enigmatic crisis pregnancy centers pervading America. It follows the stories of two women—a Texan named Maleeha and a Colorado resident named Maria—whose searches to terminate their unplanned pregnancies mislead them to anti-abortion centers that bill themselves as abortion clinics but are in reality covert prevention models.
The 80-minute film features testimonies from individuals on both sides of the issue, including individuals involved with the crisis pregnancy center industry and those who say many crisis pregnancy center practices are problematic.
Dumke, who co-directed the film with Sabrine Keane, will field questions following the showing.
Dumke was first introduced to Sun Valley Film Festival audiences as an intern at the 2018 festival. This is her feature-length directorial debut. It premiered in spring 2024 at SXSW.
The screening is part of the Sun valley Film Festival’s monthly movie offerings. For tickets, go to https://sunvalleyfilmfestival.org/monthly-movies/.
