A fresh take on end-of-life planning will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Ketchum’s Community Library.
Susan Bauer-Wu, a leader in contemplative science and end-of-life care, will offer suggestions for creating concrete plans that approach mortality with ease and joy. These can lead to a greater sense of what matters to you now, solid plans for your future and lasting gifts for you and your loved ones, she says.
Wu-Bauer served for eight years as the president of the Mind & Life Institute, an international non-profit founded by the Dalai Lama. She has been a Kluge professor in Contemplative End-of-Life Care and director of the Compassionate Care Initiative at the University of Virginia.
She has been funded as a clinical scientist by the National Institutes of Health, a Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Scholar and a teacher at Emory University, Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
She has written two books: “A Future We Can Love,” which offers guidance to face the climate emergency from such leaders as the Dalai Lama and Greta Thunberg, and “Leaves Falling Gently,” a guide to mindfulness and compassion practices to help those with illness embrace the present.
