Greenhorn is Ablaze but Not with Fire

STORY AND PHOTOS BY KAREN BOSSICK

Greenhorn is ablaze with color right now.

The smaller, immature aspen that have emerged in the wake of the 2013 Beaver Creek Fire have turned color before the more mature bigger trees around the Wood River Valley.

And the landscape is a breathtaking swatch of yellows, oranges and reds.

Hit them at the right time of the day and the right angle and you’ll find that some look like tiny flames jutting out across the hillside.

Those who walk or bike the Greenhorn trail will find that Titus Trails crews have put two new bridges in place for the new Imperial reroute. It’s anticipated that the project will finish up in mid to late October.
