“We now have 18 of thee adorable fuzzy babies available for adoption,” said Christine Ferguson, Mountain Humane’s executive director. “Anyone who has been looking for a small dog to join their family needs to see these pups.” The animal welfare center took in the mixed breed Shih Tzus and six other dogs from a rescue operation at a home in Paul. Eighteen other dogs were placed with the Idaho Humane Society in Boise. All the Shih Tzus, which weigh between 10 and 17 pounds, have been medically evaluated, dewormed, vaccinated and microchipped. Shih Tzus, known as little “lion dogs,” tend to be playful, affectionate and outgoing, according to animal experts. They tend to be good with other dogs and young children. Like all dogs, they love chasing cats. And they do sometimes dig holes. But they’re great lap dogs who are perfectly happy to sit in your lap and watch reruns of “Friends,” as well.
