#H3Knit That Hat Now That Winter’s Back
STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK
With cold weather settling in, knitting is off the backburner.
Patricia Lirk will conduct a free, four-week “Learn to Knit” class at Hailey Public Library beginning next week. The series will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Nov. 5.
Participants should provide their own yarn and needles. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required at Kristin.fletcher@haileypubliclibrary.org. Wanna be knitters may also call 208-788-2036 to reserve a spot.
“We’ve been astonished by how many people want to learn to knit or reawaken skills they learned long ago!” said organizer Kristin Fletcher, the library’s programs and engagement manager. “Now that snow is dusting the highest peaks, the time is right to create a warm and beautiful winter hat or scarf. Patricia is the perfect teacher for beginners, so patient and encouraging.”
Lirk first leaned to knit through a store she worked at 30 years ago and has been hooked ever since. She opened Sun Valley Needle Arts in Ketchum in 2010 and now teaches classes for the general public, Girl Scout troops and attendees at local conferences.
