The Argyros Performing Arts Center will host a special “Show of Gratitude” event for the community from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12.
This is the first time the Ketchum performing arts center has hosted such an event for the community. It’s designed to express appreciation for its patron and unveil the performances The Argyros will host during the upcoming winter, said Natalie Postles, the center’s new marketing and communications manager.
Guests will enjoy complimentary beverages, live music and a chance to win tickets to upcoming shows as they learn about the diverse and captivating performances coming to The Argyros. There will even be some surprise season announcements.
"We are incredibly grateful for the support of our patrons and community," said Executive Director Melissa Mathews. "This event is our way of saying thank you and celebrating the vital role they play in bringing world-class arts experiences to the Wood River Valley."
Though free, RSVPs are appreciated. Send yours to Nick.Harman@theargyros.org or Nick@theargyros.org.
The Argyros opened in time for the holiday season in 2018 on the site of the former nexStage Theatre, which was built on the site of a car showroom.
The theater features a traditional 300-seat retractable seat set-up with a capacity for 450-seat performance. The building was named after its founding benefactors Julia and George Argyros with the theater named for Tom and Elizabeth Tierney, a theater studio named for John Bailey and Grace Harvey and a lobby café for Phyllis and Dennis Washington.
The Argyros features a state-of-the-art Meyer Constellation acoustic system that can provide acoustics suitable for theater, cinema and other types of performances with the press of a button. The system, one of just a handful in the western United States, can be tuned to create the sound of a cathedral or of Carnegie Hall.
The theater has hosted a wide variety of acts from Lyle Lovett and the Beach Boys to the Sun Valley Music Festival to Ballet Idaho.
