The team of Diana and Sophie Gomez, Bella Paucar, Aracely Pedraza and Nox Trujillo were first alternates at state, competing in Ensemble Musical Theater. Students from around the state competed in such categories as Costume Design, Humorous Ensemble, Serious Ensemble, Original Humorous and Original Serious, Pantomime, Scene Design, Musical Theatre, Tech Makeup and Tech Props. Next up for WRHS Drama Team: Auditions for “Xanadu, Jr.” which will take place from 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Hailey’s Community Campus. The play, which will be performed later in the year, was inspired by a Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical and movie starring Oliva Newton John and Gene Kelly. It follows the journey of a beautiful, magical Greek muse who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, Calif., on a quest to inspire a struggling artist to create the world’s first Roller Disco. Yes, Roller Disco.
