The Sun Valley Film Festival is gifting the community with a free screening of “Dear Santa” for the Christmas season.
The film will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Merlin’s Magic Lantern in Ketchum. A question-and-answer session with Sun Valley writer and director Bobby Farrelly and actor Hayes MacArthur will follow.
The film revolves around a likeable little boy who writes to Santa asking him to prove that he’s real. But, being dyslexic, he accidentally sends his letter to Satan who shows up a Liam’s house excited about getting his first fanboy letter.
The film was produced by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, along with Jeremy Kramer. The cast includes Robert Timothy Smith, who worked in “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” as Liam. Grammy Award winner and three-time Golden Globe Award nominee Jack Black, who has appeared in scads of movies, including “High Fidelity,” “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “King Kong,” plays Satan in a Santa Claus hat.
The screening is being made possible by the SVFF Founder Circle. While free, reservations are required at https://svffmonthlymovies.eventive.org/schedule/6758bca54920a2265c070010.
Donors of $250 or more will also receive an invitation to a pre-film meet and greet.
