Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation XC Gold Team athletes Jake Adicoff and guide Peter Wolter brought home silver for Team USA in the Para Nordic Classic Sprint at the 2025 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway, on March 5.
This was the first time that FIS has included Para events in the FIS Nordic World Championships.
The two young men have been making the rounds of Europe this past month as part of the U.S. Para Nordic Team. They got a gold medal earlier in the season at Toblach, Italy, racing in the visually impaired races. And Adicoff won a couple more medals with a different guide.
Additionally, SVSEF XC Gold Team Head Coach Peter Holmes was called on to serve as the head wax tech for the US Para Team for these World Championships.
“It was really exciting to be a part of the event with other World Cup racing going on each day—the crowds and the energy were unreal!” said Holmes.
Becky Flynn, SVSEF Cross Country Program Director, said it was amazing to see Adicoff and Wolter have the opportunity to ski with the best in the world with the crowds screaming and cheering for them.
“I think this is one that will go down in the record books—from the crazy weather, the crowds, the venue, and the awards ceremony where they were driven in the ‘second-place-medal’ car—to the ceremony. Jake is one of the most consistent and successful para athletes out there and I am so happy to see him get this recognition,” she said.
Adicoff and Wolter had the fastest time in the Classic Sprint Prelim on March 4.
