Steve Hannagan made the Indy 500 a household word, and he converted Miami Beach from a mosquito-infested swamp into a place where bathing beauties converted during winter. He also made Coca Cola the drink of choice.
In 1936 Hannagan became the man who advised Averell Harriman and Union Pacific Railroad of all the steps necessary to make Sun Valley a winter wonderland destination that people from all over the country would flock to.
Learn about some of the advertising techniques Hannagan used, including his famous ad featuring a shirtless skier sweating under the Sun Valley sun, when local historian John W. Lundin presents “Steve Hannagan: Prince of Press Agents” at Ketchum’s Community Library.
The free talk will start at 5:30 p.m. tonight—Tuesday March 25. You can see it in person by reserving a seat at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/13885090. The program will also be livestreamed and available to view later at https://vimeo.com/event/4922639.
