Step into a richly imagined world when the Sun Valley Film Festival presents “The Legend of Ochi” Friday night.

The film will be presented at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at The Argyros in Ketchum. It is part of the Film Festival’s Monthly Movie Series.

Director Isaiah Saxon is said to have revived the near-lost art of practical cinematic moviemaking in this fantasy, which is touted to grab the attention of both kids and adults.

It tells the story of a shy farm girl living in a remote village on the Island of Carpathia who is raised to fear an elusive animal species known as ochi. But, when she discovers a wounded baby ochi has been left behind, she escapes on a quest to bring him home.

Footage was shot in Romania’s Transylvania. The titular creature—a puppet—was operated by seven performers.

The movie stars Helena Zegel, Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson and Willem Dafoe.

Tickets are $20 with tickets for those 18 and under half price. They’re available at https://svffmonthlymovies.eventive.org/schedule/67cf1eb829dac12e8315b654.
