EDITOR'S NOTE: Dr. Sylvia Earle has since had to cancel.

Dr. Sylvia Earle, underwater explorer and chairman of Mission Blue, will return this year as one of the keynote speakers for the Sun Valley Forum.

Earle will speak at the 10th Annual Sun Valley Forum June 23-26 at The Argyros in Ketchum. This year’s theme is “All in for Nature: Building a Resilient World.”

It will include such speakers as Chase Cain, national climate reporter and meteorologist for NBCUniversal; Bob Wheler, president and CEO of Airstream, Inc.; Francis Bouchard, managing director of Climate for Marsh McLennan; Wade Crowfoot, natural resources secretary for the State of California; Emmy Scott, executive director of Earth Guardians, and Lauren McLean, the mayor of Boise.

Topics include “Seeing with the Soul: The Hidden Power of Beauty,” “Becoming Unstoppable Planetary Guardians,” “Solutions are Everywhere,” “Climate Science for Change,” and “Preserving Nature through the Spirit of Adventure.”

The Sun Valley Forum was started to help the Wood River Valley chart a more resilient future following the 2013 Beaver Creek Fire and other downturns to the economy. It has grown beyond that, becoming a place in which leaders from around the world can network and brainstorm ideas for attacking national and global problems dealing with energy and food systems, the restoration of nature and revitalization of communities.

It kicks off with field trips to see cutting edge solar and other technology being deployed in the Wood River Valley. And it includes dinners at Trail Creek Cabin, Knob Hill Inn and Roundhouse Restaurant, before wrapping up with rafting on the Salmon River and hiking and biking in local mountains.
