Just when you think there couldn’t be any more road construction in the Wood River Valley, the City of Sun Valley has decided it wants to get in on the action.

Elkhorn Road will be reduced to one lane Wednesday through Friday, June 11-13, while Idaho Power places utility lines across the road. Metal plates will be placed on Elkhorn Road during the project and flaggers will direct traffic.

That may prompt delays for motorists who have been using Elkhorn Road as a detour to get around road construction on Highway 75.

From June 18-20—Wednesday through Friday—the City of Sun Valley will seal several roads as part of the city’s 2025 Street Friction Seal Project.

The city will seal Saddle Lane, Bitterroot, Baldy View, Snowbrush, Silverweed, Skyline, Skyline Spur, Sunrise and Sage Lane. One side of the street will be open in each case, but motorists are advised to expect delays and to avoid these areas if possible.

It takes two hours for the seal to cure before it can be driven on.

Groundskeepers, house cleaners and property managers are asked to reschedule activities around these dates. And sprinklers that contact the road should be turned off during this time.

Questions? Call Street Supervisor Bill Whitesell at 208-622-4438, extension 116.

All these projects come at a time when road construction is going on Ketchum’s Main Street between 4th and 6th Street and road and utility work is going on from Trail Creek Bridge to just south of St. Luke’s hospital.

Ketchum will seal some of its streets June 16-18.

Even Bellevue embarks on a three-week repaving project on Main Street this coming week.

The only sanctuary is Hailey, although some would say the pipe laying that tore up the Park ‘n’ Ride lost and surrounding streets has been pretty monstrous.
