Sun Valley Music Festival Director Alasdair Neale will discuss all the high notes of this 2025 summer symphony season on Friday at Ketchum’s Community Library.

The Sun Valley Music Festival will perform music spanning nearly 250 years—from Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 80 written in 1784 to Mason Bate’s Silicon Hymnal, which he composed earlier this year.

Neale will discuss some of the hidden gems in the coming programs, including other newish works during Friday’s talk.

This year’s summer season kicks off on Monday, July 28, with Grammy Award-winning pianist Gabriela Martinez during a week when festivalgoers will hear the music of Haydn, Brahms and Beethoven.

Other highlights include Time for Three playing Mason Bates on Aug. 4, Gautier Capucon playing Elgar on Aug. 12, a Latin-inspired Pops night with Jacomo Bairos on Aug. 16 and a season finale featuring an evening of Richad Strauss on Aug. 21.
