Check out the 4H pigs, your neighbors’ blue ribbon pies and cakes and other handiwork and photography at the Blaine County Fair being held through Saturday in Carey at the Blaine County Fairgrounds.
Big John’s BBQ will hold its Prime Rib/BBQ Dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today—Thursday, Aug. 7--with part of the proceeds going to the Carey volleyball players It will be followed by a concert and outdoor movie beginning at 8 p.m.
The concert will feature Twin Falls country crooner Heath Owens. It’s free but donations will be accepted; concertgoers should bring lawn chairs or blankets.
On Friday, there will be a Duck Oven Cook-Off from 3 to 5:30 p.m. followed by the Kid’s Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Events will include barrel racing, breakaway roping, pole bending, goat tying, mutton bustin’, calf riding and the goat tail chase. Admission is $5 per person at the gate.
The fair will end on Saturday, Aug. 9 with free bouncy houses for the kids from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a Market Animal Sale at 9 a.m. and Buyer’s Luncheon at 1 p.m. The Fall Rodeo will conclude the fair at 7:30 p.m.
The event will include the Wild Cow Race, Wild Cow Milking, Barrel Racing, Heifer Riding, Trailer Loading, Dope on a Rope, Ribbon Roping and Team Roping. Admission is $5 per peron at the gate.
RV and tent camping is allowed on the rodeo grounds for $20.
