STORY AND PHOTOS BY KAREN BOSSICK

They were a feast for the eyes—quilts sporting cowboy boots, aboriginal cowboys, nutcrackers and sheep. One was made out of T-shirts from the Northern Rockies Folk Fest, which was a highlight of summer in Hailey for many years.

Another depicted animals of winter. And there was one even boasting the Idaho Moon.

These were among 72 quilts that made up the Wagon Days Quilt show staged by 5 Bee Quilters Guild during the 2024 Wagon Days Parade. And there’s no reason to think that this year’s 80-quilt show will be any less engaging.

The free Quilt Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 201 Sun Valley Road.

You can catch it before the parade, after the parade or even during the parade if you like.

Raffle tickets for a quilt that showcases sheep enjoying the activities of the Wood River Valley will be on sale that day, as well. The proceeds will help the group purchase supplies for the philanthropy quilts they donate to organizations such as Camp Rainbow Gold, The Advocates, The Senior Connection and the Hospice of the Wood River Valley.
