Those in town for the Trailing of the Sheep Festival will have an opportunity to meet one of the white giants that help safeguard the sheep when JMcLaughlin hosts a Sip & Shop on behalf of the local Unega Mountain Dog Rescue.
The dress shop at 520 E. 4th St. in Ketchum will donate 10 percent of sales from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, to the Unega Mountain Dog Rescue. And Tiffany Larson, who runs the Unega Mountain Dog Rescue, will bring at least one of the dogs it has rescued to the event.
“It is a rare opportunity to see these amazing guard dogs up close and learn about their rescue and rehabilitation stories,” said Howe.
Unega Mountain Dog Rescue is a nonprofit organization that rescues Great Pyrenees and Akbash dogs in Idaho. Some have become lost. Others have been abandoned. Some wander away from their herd they’re tasked with guarding because in their mind they’re just not suited to guarding sheep.
Unega provides a sanctuary for some of the dogs, while rehabilitating and socializing others to get them adopted into homes.
