Silver Creek Outfitters will kick off its annual three-day Share the Spirit shopping event to benefit three Wood River Valley nonprofits on Thursday.

The store will donate 15 percent of both in-store and online sales to the organizations  Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 4-6.

On Thursday THE SHOSHONE PROJECT will reap the benefits on Thursday with money raised going to purchase food for holiday baskets and provide $100 gift cards for families in Shoshone, Richfield and Dietrich. Additionally, shoppers may drop off new or gently used coats, hats, scarves, gloves and blankets in orange bins placed at Silver Creek Outfitters until Friday.

On Friday ST. LUKE’S WOOD RIVER FOUNDATION, which raises money to purchase new equipment for the hospital, such as its robotic surgery apparatus, will be the beneficiary.

On Saturday the WOOD RIVER LAND TRUST, which is wrapping up a campaign to preserve the Hailey Hot Springs Ranch out Croy Canyon, will be the beneficiary.

Candice Stark, who heads up The Shoshone Project, said Tuesday morning that her grassroots organization has reached 90 percent of its goal for its Sixth Annual Warm Clothing & Food Drive. Food and clothing will be distributed Dec. 14 in Shoshone.

“We’ve been absolutely blown away by the number of people who’ve stepped up to wrap presents, bake cookies and volunteer at our event in Shoshone. And we’re fortunate to be one of the nonprofits that Silver Creek Outfitters is benefitting this year,” she said. “It’s my understanding they’ve been doing this for 20 years now; last year they raised nearly $10,000 for five nonprofits.”

Silver Creek Outfitters is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
