BY KAREN BOSSICK

The day before Halloween, Suzanne Asha Stone presented a discussion of how the future of conservation lies not in control, but in collaboration, with nature as she discussed the Wood River Wolf Project with biology and conservation students at Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This week she returns home to tell Wood River Valley residents about the wolves who make their home in the hills and valleys surrounding Sun Valley.

The Wood River Wolf Project will present a discussion titled “Coexistence: Stories from Wolf Country” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Ketchum’s Community Library.

Suzanne Asha Stone, co-founder of the Wood River Wolf Project, will be in conversation with J Dallas Gudgell, coexistence council member and a member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe, and James Holt, Nez Perce tribe wildlife manager.

They will talk about how the Wood River Wolf Project’s methods honed over 18 years are being replicated across the West and even internationally to protect against wildlife-livestock conflicts. And they will discuss how indigenous strategies for community building and reciprocity can restore and preserve local biodiversity.

To join in person, RSVP at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/15496904. The program also will be livestreamed at https://vimeo.com/event/5479334
