“Thaw,” a movie about parenthood on ice, will launch the Sun Valley Film Festival’s 2026 Monthly Movie Series this coming week.
Documentary filmmaker Robin Hauser’s film will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at The Argyros in Ketchum. A Filmmaker Reception for VIPs who make a donation of $40 or more will precede the film at 6 p.m. And a Filmmaker Q&A will follow the movie.
The film examines egg freezing, now a billion-dollar industry that allows women the ability to pause their biological clocks and extend their reproductive choices.
For some it means empowerment; for others, a costly gamble with no guarantees. The woman all have different reasons for choosing to freeze their eggs from not being able to find the right mate for now to putting off childbirth due to economic or career reasons.
