Learn how Idaho Fish and Game restores local habitats after wildfire and other disturbances in a free presentation hosted by the Wood River Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society.

Miranda Reinson, a habitat specialist for the Magic Valley Region, will make the presentation at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Hailey Town Center West, 116 S. River St.

Reinson, an Idaho Department of Fish and Game wildlife biologist, will discuss how sagebrush and other shrubs are sourced and ways native species are seeded in areas struggling to recover. She will also discuss how Fish and Game manages areas to avoid the establishment of invasive species.

“Wildfire and other disturbances certainly take a toll on our public lands,” said Kristin Fletcher, who is on the board of the Wood River Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society. “It takes specialized skills and follow-up to rehabilitate them back to health. This talk will explore just how that's done.”

The Idaho Native Plant Society is a nonprofit statewide organization with more than 600 members. It is dedicated to fostering an understanding and appreciation of Idaho’s native flora and its habitats. To learn more, visit https://idahonativeplants.org/wood-river/.
