A NOT MY PRESIDENT protest will be held the day after President’s Day.
Rallygoers will stand up for democracy and the Constitution from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Main and Bullion streets in downtown Hailey.
Katja Burmester said more than 400 people attended the ICE OUT NOW protest held a week ago.
“What a great turnout! The support from the passing cars sounded like a honking symphony. With the 400+ people cheering along Main Street, plus the thousands of honking, waving, smiling, and supporting drivers, it was just an amazing experience,” she said.
Rallygoers in the Wood River Valley have stood shoulder to shoulder on street corners—through rain, hail, sleet, snow, and blazing sun—over the past 13 months, she said.
“We declare that this land belongs to all of us, and we refuse to be cowed into submission. We will not retreat from our values. We stand for democracy, the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution, and for our friends and neighbors,” she added.
Burmester said that those who want to contact their Congressional representatives directly can avail themselves of these phone numbers:
