Twenty high school students from Flourish Foundation’s Compassionate Leaders Program (CLP), have successfully fundraised for two service learning trips to Morocco and India this summer.
Ten students will be traveling to Essaouira on the east side of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco for three weeks this month. While there they will create a short documentary combating xenophobia and collaborating with several NGO’s supporting children in Fes.
In July another group of students will travel to Ladakh in northern India. This group will be working in an elderly home, with children and on environmental projects at Mahabodhi International.
This past year the Compassionate Leaders Program supported 30 sophomores, juniors and seniors from Wood River High School, Sage School, Community School, and Silver Creek High School in a yearlong process of cultivating compassion and leadership through reflective practice and community service.
The Compassionate Leaders have completed more than 1,500 hours of community service throughout the Wood River Valley, supporting 28 different organizations.
