The Transportation Security Administration has made changes at Friedman Memorial Airport to help make sure passengers aren’t left behind because they can’t get though the security check in time.
The TSA has begun to prioritize passengers based on fight schedules.
Passengers will be prioritized in the TSA line based on earlier to later flights.
That means those leaving on the 7 a.m. Salt Lake flight on Delta will be given first priority, followed by Denver (United) passengers at 7:15 a.m. and San Francisco (United) passengers at 8:20.
That said, passengers are still asked to arrive at the airport at least an hour and a half to two hours before their flight.
Mornings have been extremely busy with three early flights taking off within an hour and 20 minutes of each other. With 70 passengers per flight, that means 210 passengers passing through security in a short period of time.
Given that some passengers who arrived less than 90 minutes before their flights were unable to make it through security before their planes were finished boarding.
TSA staff cannot be added to deal with the early crunch morning because the staff is already at capacity based on national regulations, said Airport Manager Chris Pomeroy.
