The Senior Connection and Higher Ground are collaborating to make sure that veterans will not be forgotten on Veterans Day, despite the pandemic that has cancelled so many events.
They’re hosting Burgers & Brats on Veterans Day.
Veterans will be treated to a free take out of either a burger or brat, two sides, cookie and sparkling water. They’ll be served up curbside from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at The Senior Connection, 721 3rd Ave. South in Hailey.
“We will get to honor them in person, albeit in a modified form this year, by passing them their lunch to them in their car,” said Teresa Beahen Lipman, executive director of The Senior Connection. “It will be pretty special, though. Higher Ground will have all the Armed Services flags set up outside and we will be playing the Armed Services Medley on a large speaker. We are also setting up a barricaded drive-through like the red carpet of the Oscars. They deserve the royal treatment for their service.”
The lunches are free for vets, but they must be ordered by noon Monday, Nov. 9. To order call 208-788-3468.
Non-veteran family members and friends may order a lunch for $5.
Helping to sponsor the event are Jason Sappenfield, in honor of Jack Sappenfield; Brian Camilli with his Hot Dog Truck, Double Springs Ranch, the City of Hailey Fire Department and Polar.
