STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

You can’t come to the performing arts theater this holiday season.

So, The Argyros has created an on-demand holiday video program featuring many of the Wood River Valley’s talented stage artists that you can watch in your home.

The theater’s technical director Samuel Mollner spent three days recording such artists as R.L. Rowsey, Alan Pennay, John Mauldin and Melodie Taylor-Mauldin in a COVID-safe environment. Other performers include Michael White, Judith McQueen, Faculty Lounge, Andrew Alburger, Chip Booth, newcomer Peter Davenport and Nick Sacks

The 45-minute video features a wide selection of festive music designed to bring cheer to the community.

It will drop on Dec. 18 and be available to view through Dec 31. To access it, go to www.theargyros.org. The performance is being offered with a suggested donation of $20 or pay what you feel. Of course, donations in bigger amounts will be accepted, as well.

The Argyros made a point of paying the artists, many of whom had not appeared on stage since the pandemic, said Margaret Hamamoto, marketing and development director. A few declined payment, saying their performance was their gift to The Argyros and the community.

“It was very cool to be back in the swing of things,” said Mollner. “This allowed me to practice my craft, from the decorations to the props, lights and sound. It was a great way to do safely what we love. Christmas for the community.”

Proceeds from the video will support The Argyros Bridge to the Future fundraising effort that has been created to support the theater’s annual operating expenses and other aspects of the organization. Bridge to the Future contributors will be recognized on a permanent installation at The Argyros.
