Crews continued their work Tuesday to reopen Trail Creek Road following a mudslide that closed it Monday.
A spokesman for Blaine County Road and Bridge said the road had not reopened as of 6 p.m. Tuesday. When crews are satisfied they have cleared it sufficiently, they will have to do an evaluation to check the road’s stability
The sheriff’s department is cautioning motorists to keep their eyes open for falling rock.
Rock, mud and debris slid onto the road at about 4 p.m. Monday, making the road inaccessible, following on-again, off-again heavy rains over the past few days, which also created some minor damage on some area hiking trails.
Baker Creek Road was also closed on Sunday at Badger Creek because of a mudslide, which temporarily left a few campers and other recreationalists stranded. Road crews were able to clear that within several hours, reopening it the same day.
