Want to know the state with the highest percentage of households with dogs?
You’d be right if you guessed Idaho.
The Gem State is also the Dog State, according to 24/7.
The report said that 58.3 percent of Idaho households have at least one dog The number of dog-owning households is 378,000 out of 648,000 human households. The survey says Idaho does not boast the most dogs of any states--just a larger percentage of Idaho households with dogs.
Montana came in second highest, followed by Arkansas, Mississippi, West Virginia.
The states with the lowest percentage of households with dogs were New Hampshire with 23 percent, followed by Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Vermont.
Dogs are the most popular pets in America with 50 million households claiming at least one, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.
