The Blaine County Recreation District is seal coating the Wood River bike path this week.
Workers are applying an asphalt emulsion to seal the trail surface through Friday, Sept. 17, in an area from Ohio Gulch Road north of Hailey to the truss bridge north of St. Luke’s hospital in Ketchum. The East Fork Spur will also receive treatment.
These parts of the trail will be closed during the process. Alternative routes may not be suitable for road bikes, rollerblades, dogs or nighttime travel.
Trail users must stay off the new surface for 48 hours. Wet seal coating material will ruin shoes, clothes, bikes roller blades and mar the trail surface.
Regular maintenance is done to preserve the trail’s smooth surface, which otherwise roughens and cracks after several years of regular use.
