“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will have to wait.
St. Thomas Playhouse directors Brett Moellenberg and Sara Gorby have decided to postpone the community theater project, which was set to take the stage this week, because of the recent mask mandates imposed by the cities of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue, as well as Blaine County.
“Sara and I both stand firmly behind the leaders of our community who have made the difficult decision to require masks indoors because of the recent increase in (COVID) cases and strain on our health care resources. After exploring our options for the production, we realized that the decision had already been made for us,” Moellenberg said.
Moellenberg said St. Thomas Playhouse, which had been in rehearsal for seven weeks, hopes to be able to stage the production before next summer.
The Sun Valley Jazz and Music Festival, scheduled for late October, has also cancelled for the second year in a row. Organizers had said earlier this year--before the fourth wave hit--that they were seeing robust ticket sales.
