Want to help guide the future of Blaine County and the Wood River Valley?
The Blaine County Democratic Party is accepting applications for a position as county commissioner. The applicant must live in District 2, which is in the mid-Wood River Valley.
Blaine County Commissioner Jacob Greenberg recently announced that he plans to retire on Dec. 31, 2021—one year before his term was set to end in 2022. Greenberg himself was appointed by Governor Otter in 2012 to replace Commissioner Tom Bowman.
Greenberg served as liaison to a number of groups, including Mountain Humane, the Blaine County Ambulance District Board, City of Hailey, EMS Council, Fly Sun Valley Alliance, Friedman Memorial Airport Authority, Hailey Chamber of Commerce and Sun Valley Economic Development.
Commissioners’ meetings are held weekly on Tuesdays, except for the fifth Tuesday of the month, at the Old Blaine County Courthouse in Hailey.
The Party plans to submit three candidates’ names to the governor for appointment.
Those wishing to be considered should submit a resume, cover letter and two letters of recommendation to the party by 5 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 17.
Email them to blainecountydems@gmail.com. Or, send them to Blaine County Democrats at P.O. Box 402, Ketchum, ID 83340.
The representative will need to run in the Democratic primary in May 2022 to retain the seat. Normal terms run from two to four years on a rotational basis.
