Sun Valley’s own Olympic downhiller Picabo Street will be on hand to discuss the new documentary “Picabo” when the feature-length film makes it debut Friday, March 11, at the Sun Valley Opera House.
The film, made by co-directors and executive producers Frank Marshall and Lindsey Vonn, will be shown at 5 p.m. March 11. Steve Porino, a former teammate and 25-year veteran of alpine broadcasting, will interview Street afterwards for those in the audience.
Tickets are $50, available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-evening-with-picabo-tickets-275267972917
Proceeds will benefit the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.
The film chronicles Street’s life from her days growing up in Triumph just south of Sun Valley to winning 1998 Olympic gold in alpine skiing. It also will take a look at Picabo Street’s life after ski racing.
Street, who grew up racing with the SVSEF, was the alpine skiing icon of the 1990s and Lindsey Vonn’s childhood hero. The film provides an intimate look at her fascinating life from her unorthodox childhood to her Olympic successes, dramatic recoveries from ill-timed injuries and even her arrest in 2015 due to false abuse allegations.
