Learn all about the art of fruit tree pruning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Hailey Public Library.
Master arborist Linda Ries will present the workshop, which was rescheduled after a technological glitch prevented it from being offered virtually last month.
“Now we’re able to offer it in person, which is very exciting,” said Kristin Fletcher, the library’s programs and engagement manager.
Ries will describe when and how to prune different types of fruit trees to promote strong branch structure and increase fruit size. She promises to bring twigs and branches to the presentation, offering a hands-on approach.
Ries has a degree in Forest Biology from Colorado State University. She is a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture since 1996 and has served on the Hailey Tree Committee since 2015.
She is the former Community Forester for the Sawtooth National Forest and was the Conservation Education Coordinator for the Forest Service’s Intermountain Region. In 1996, she led the establishment of the Native Plant Arboretum, located near the intersection of the BCRD bike path and Fox Acres Road in Hailey.
