A rally and march for women’s rights will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in Ketchum Town Square.
Ketchum artist Jessica Mayne, who runs The Story Garden Theatre Camp for children, began organizing the rally in mid-May in response to the recent Supreme Court leak.
“I, along with several other Blaine County women, have decided it’s high time we lead a march for our rights again,” she said. “Our purpose is to bring awareness to the quality of care Idaho offers women, children and families; show exactly what will happen if Roe v Wade is overturned, and fight for reproductive freedom and to improve our quality of life.
“Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, you are invited to March for Our Rights to help us fight for better sex education, better reproductive healthcare, improved prenatal and postnatal healthcare, and better access to food stamps, EB, and subsidized childcare.
A sign-making booth will be set up at the Ketchum Town Square at noon for those who would like to create signs for the march. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
At 1 p.m. representatives from Planned Parenthood, will discuss the services they provide. Legal Voice, a legal firm focusing on reproductive rights, will discuss the ramifications of more restrictions. Representatives of Add the Words and other organizations are expected to speak, as well.
The march will commence at 2 p.m.
