A reception celebrating the induction of Sun Valley skier and cyclist Muffy Davis into the Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Sun Valley’s Festival Meadows.
Davis grew up competing on the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s alpine team before she was paralyzed in a training accident when she ran off a cat track and into a tree at 16. She later learned to ski in a monoski and won four medals at the 1998 Paralympics in Nagano and the 2002 Paralympics in Salt Lake City.
She switched sports and won three gold medals in para-cycling at the 2012 London Paralympics.
Davos was inducted into the Hall of Fame in June of this year in a ceremony held in Colorado Springs. Others inducted alongside her included Michael Phelps, Mia Hamm and Gretchen Fraser, a Sun Valley skier who was the first American to win an Olympic ski medal.
Davis recently served as a representative in the Idaho Legislature and is currently serving as Blaine County commissioner.
