Blaine County voters approved a school plant facilities reserve fund levy in Tuesday’s election.
The measure needed 55 percent voter approval to pass—70.02 percent of voters said “Yes” while 29.98 percent said no.
The school district will receive up to $5 million per year through June 30, 2027. Taxpayers will pay $34.90 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value per year.
The money will be used for roof repairs and replacements, upgraded HVAC systems, LED lighting, and technology upgrades.
Levy votes across southern Idaho met with mixed results on Tuesday.
A school plant facilities levy in the Buhl Joint School District did not pass and measures in the Middleton School District and Vallivue School District in Canyon County did not pass.
A supplemental levy in the Salmon River Joint School District passed and one for Three Creek School District passed, as did a general obligation bond in the Jerome Joint School District.
Blaine County School teachers and staff received safety training on Wednesday. Students return for the 2022-23 school year today.
