A game of golf is set to benefit baseball in the Wood River Valley.
The James Nelson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at Sun Valley’s Trail Creek Golf Course. The tournament dependably earns about $10,000 for the Wood River Baseball Association (WRBA).
The event is open to the public—both youth and adults. Rewards will be given those who register by Oct. 1. That said, day-of-entries will also be welcome.
The tournament will start with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Teams of four will compete in a scramble format.
Cost is $80 for youth and $160 for adults, or $320 for a youth team and $640 for an adult team.
In addition to the tourney, there will be a raffle and silent auction. Items include a 15-day pass donated by Sun Valley Company, family passes to such attractions as Miracle Hot Springs in Hagerman, family portrait sessions and gift baskets.
To register or to sponsor a hole for $150, to to www.woodriverbaseball.com, contact Raiza Giorgi at 805-350-8786 or email info@woodriverbaseball.com.
WRBA is a 501c# nonprofit organization that focuses on creating leaders and top-notch adults by teaching such skills as teamwork, sportsmanship, competition and knowledge through baseball.
“There are many reasons to enjoy a game of golf, especially when it benefits local kids youth programs,” said Dustin Stone, a WRBA board member. “Wood River Baseball is more than just the sport, it teaches the players about being a part of a team, building character and the love for America’s favorite past-time.”
