Are you a pie making whiz?
The Hunger Coalition is preparing to distribute 550 pies along with other Thanksgiving fixings. And organizers are hoping that community members will bake a few or donate the ingredients for pies if crimping pie crusts is not their forte.
Amanda Moulton said The Hunger Coalition would love to see the community donate a hundred homemade pies. Last year, community members contributed such items as Italian Cakes with Figs and Chocolate Pieces, as well.
“If you love baking pies, you can make them at home and deliver them to The Hunger Coalition,” she said. “Pies can be any flavor and we request that they be delivered frozen. The best time to deliver them will be before noon on Monday, Nov. 21. But we can also accept them Nov. 17 and 18 during business hours.”
The Hunger Coalition will also field a crew of pie bakers to help cover the remainder of the pies, Moulton said.
“From now until Nov. 8, we will gratefully accept donations of butter, eggs, sweetened condensed milk and pie tins. Bring these items by the front desk during business hours and receive a tax receipt.”
