District 26 saw a blue sweep Tuesday night despite a redistricting effort that made the district more Republican.
Retired Hailey firefighter Ron Taylor beat Rep. Laurie Lickley of Jerome for retiring Sen. Michelle Stennett’s seat. A Blaine County Democrat has held that position for more than 50 years.
Rep. Ned Burns held onto the seat he had taken when Rep. Muffy Davis accepted the role of Blaine County commissioner.
And newcomer Karma Metzler Fitzgerald beat Jack Pohanka for the other House seat in District 26.
Meanwhile, Gov. Brad Little easily coasted to victory over Democrat challenger Stephen Heidt and Independent Ammon Bundy.
Voting was heavy in Blaine County and results didn’t start trickling in until after well after midnight.
