Sun Valley Snowboarder Chase Josey will be going to Korea next month.
The former Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation athlete was named to the U.S. Snowboard Halfpipe team that will be representing the country at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Josey was named to the team following a dazzling diosplay on Saturday, in which he threw down a 94.50 on his opening run to win the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain.
“He’s very talented and has a unique perspective on putting tricks together the things he wants to do,” said Andy Gilbert, who was among the SVSEF coaches who worked with a young Josey. “He kind of thinks outside the box as far as putting his runs together and I think that definitely sets them apart. He can do all the toughest stuff right now, and he’s also got a bag of tricks that’s big.”
Josey’s teammates are Ben Ferguson, Jake Pates and Shaun White.
Chloe Kim, Kelly Clark, Maddie Mastro and Arielle Gold will represent the Women’s Snowboard Halfpipe Team.
