Diana Tellez-Munoz, an Every Teen Counts intern with The Advocates, recently helped plan the Idaho Youth for Change Summit.

Tellez-Munoz worked with Monica Reyna, violence prevention educator at The Advocates to help create the summit.

The virtual summit brought together the leaders of tomorrow, featuring workshops, breakout sessions and keynote speakers designed to give youth the tools they need to be catalyst for change in their community, said Heidi Cook, program manager of the Sexual Violence Prevention Program and a former educator with The Advocates.

The virtual event was designed for middle and high school students. It will be an ongoing initiative to unite students across Idaho for workshops targeting youth empowerment, health equity and social change.

The summit was supported by a variety of industry professionals and organizations, including Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, St. Luke’s Health System, University of Idaho Extension 4-H, The Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and Idaho State Department of Education.
