If clear nights mean squat for snow, at least they’re good for viewing stars.
A Dark Sky event in celebration of the Super New Moon and the Geminids Meteor Shower will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Hotel Ketchum, 600 N. Main St. The evening will be led by Chris Anderson who will help illuminate the evening with a telescope and star projection map as he talks about the Geminids, a prolific meteor shower and the only major meteor shower not originating from a comet.
It will be held in The Backyard of Hotel Ketchum and cocoa, coffee, cider and cookies will be served.
Participants are invited to bring their own binoculars and telescopes if they have them.
Ketchum is located within the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve—the first international dark sky reserve in the United States.
