Hailey residents Don and Shannon Jackson spent five months hiking the Continental Divide Trail from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. Then, years later, they biked the nearby Great Divide Route, tacking 256 additional miles more onto their trip as they cycled all the way to Banff National Park in Canada.
They filtered drinking water in puddles as they trudged 123 miles across the Great Basin Desert and they pushed their loaded bikes up the 40 percent grade at Montana’s Fleecer Ridge in the process of chalking up 143,583 feet of elevation gain during their bike trip.
Shannon Jackson tells of these and other adventures in her new book “Better and Happier together: Stories of epic Adventures.” And in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video the couple share additional stories with Karen Bossick.
