The winter of 2022-23 proved the third snowiest season in the history of Sun Valley Resort—and that didn’t count five inches that fell on the mountain on Tuesday.
Sun Valley reported 262 inches of snow—a bunch more than the 200 or so inches considered average. That comprised the highest snow total since the snowy 2016-17 season. The maximum base height at one time was 101 inches.
The resort reported 256 skiers who skied a hundred days or more in the 144-day season. There were 70 days of skiing on the Elkhorn side of Dollar Mountain. And there were 150 wipeouts in Dollar Daze Pond Skim. Relive some of the fun of that day in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video.
